McKissack & McKissack provided interior design services for the partial renovation of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) headquarters.
With McKissack's direction and interior design services, BGE—the nation’s oldest utility—developed and executed a program to renovate its headquarters in Baltimore’s downtown. The utility’s goal was to transform the 1964 structure into a workplace that could accommodate the evolving opportunities and expectations of a thriving, 21st century company. McKissack realigned the interior space of the executive conference center on the building’s 13th floor, and a typical office floor (in this case the 12th floor) to serve as a prototypical design to apply to the building’s remaining 12 floors. McKissack also provided interior design services, furniture specification and selection and branding services for the renovation of the building’s first floor and main lobby, which converted the spaces into a welcoming entrance and lounge area for BGE staff and the general public. Additionally, the renovation included the relocation and expansion of the restrooms, human resources suite, reception and security stations and creation of a 285-seat multipurpose room.
