National Museum of African American History and Culture

Located on the National Mall, this 380,000 SF facility serves as the first national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life.
Under an indefinite delivery/ indefinite quantity contract with the Smithsonian Institution, McKissack provided program and construction management services to assist in the development and construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. This long-awaited new national museum provides for the collection and study of artifacts and documents relating to African American life and for the establishment of programs relating to its life, art, history, and culture. Predesign services included the preparation and development of security site threat risk assessment, geotechnical investigation, construction manager-at-risk scope of work, building information modeling, and risk management plan. McKissack provided program and construction management services to assist with design review, interior design/space planning, contractor bid process, and oversight during construction.
