Howard University Student Housing Residence Halls

McKissack & McKissack teamed with Campus Apartments of Philadelphia to develop two noteworthy new residence halls for Howard University that incorporate features to boost student recruitment.
New student housing with sophisticated features and striking facility design were part of Howard University’s master plan to enhance the student experience and bring students back to living on campus—a strategy that strengthens students’ sense of community. The new dormitories provide a forward-looking array of features and facilities, including a state-of-the-art computer lab, game room and fitness center. McKissack provided program development, site selection, civil engineering and architectural and interior design services for the project, as well as all construction administration, onsite quality assurance and quality control. Located at College and 4th Streets NW, College Hall North is a new 7-story, 138,000 SF, 484-bed student residence hall programmed primarily for underclassmen and first-year students. Located at Bryant and 4th Streets NW, College Hall South is a new, 6-story, 250,000 SF, 878-bed residence hall programmed primarily for underclassmen and first-year students.
