McKissack, under a joint venture partnership, is the program manager for the District of Columbia Public Schools modernization program.
The program’s commitment is to fully modernize all 123 elementary, middle and high school buildings, and related administrative and support facilities. Over approximately a 10-year period resulting in more than 12 million-sq-ft of newly constructed or renovated space. For this program, Mckissack, under the name of DC Partners for the Revitalization of Education Projects (DC PEP), is responsible for implementing three initiatives: modernization of school facilities, renovation, and new building construction; stabilization of school facilities, including systematic replacement of building elements; and special projects, including athletic fields, recreation centers, and other associated facilities. Upon completion, DC PEP also works with the turnover of the project to the building maintenance and operations staff.
