Program manager chosen for Texas university union

The Construction Index
McKissack & McKissack has been appointed as program manager services for a new student union building at the Denton campus of Texas Woman’s University (TWU).
The firm will oversee the day-to-day operations of design and engineering consultants as well as the day-to-day management of construction. “We’re very excited to partner with an educational institution that has such a rich history—and such a bright future,” said Kathleen Langan, vice president of McKissack & McKissack. “We look forward to delivering a state-of-the-art student union that will engage the entire TWU community, both socially and academically.” The existing TWU student union was built in 1970, when the campus was home to just 5,810 students. A larger facility is needed as the current enrollment exceeds 12,500. Hubbard Hall, a historic structure that presently serves as a conference facility, will be renovated and expanded to 140,000 square feet in order to accommodate dining services, meeting rooms, and gathering spaces, retail outlets, a theater/auditorium, and a game room.
