WASHINGTON, D.C.—McKissack & McKissack, a national architecture, engineering, program- and construction-management firm, is pleased to announce the opening of the MGM National Harbor resort casino. McKissack & McKissack provided project management, schedule development, budget management, and diversity management services for the $1.4 billion project. “It’s been a tremendous experience partnering with MGM Resorts International on the MGM National Harbor resort,” said Deryl McKissack, Chairwoman and CEO of McKissack & McKissack. “With our history of delivering complex, high-profile projects nationwide, including the acclaimed National Museum of African American History and Culture on the National Mall, we were able to meet the planning, construction, and infrastructure challenges of this important community asset.” Lorenzo Creighton, President and COO of MGM National Harbor commented, “McKissack & McKissack represents the best of the best in their industry. Their experience managing some of the metropolitan area’s most impressive undertakings made them the clear choice to oversee our multidimensional construction and development at National Harbor.” Set on 23 acres on the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, Maryland, approximately ten miles from downtown Washington, D.C., the resort, which opened on December 8, is a convenient base for tourists. A 24-story hotel offers 308 rooms and suites. In addition to the 125,000-square-foot casino, amenities include a 3,000-seat flexible theater venue, a spa, and world-class restaurants operated by renowned chefs José Andrés, Marcus Samuelsson, and the brothers Michael and Bryan Voltaggio.
