The DC Chamber of Commerce Presents McKissack & McKissack with the 2017 Business of the Year Award

Washington D.C.–McKissack & McKissack, a leader in Washington D.C.’s business, architecture, engineering and construction community, was awarded the DC Chamber of Commerce 2017 Business of the Year Award for its quality and positive results of business excellence.

“McKissack & McKissack appreciates the support we’ve received from the DC Chamber of Commerce and our great city Washington, D.C.,” said Deryl McKissack, Chairwoman and CEO. “It was here in D.C. that we began our journey and are proud of our roots and the strong relationships we have forged with our business, government, education and community partners throughout the past 26 years.”

Founded in 1990, McKissack & McKissack has always kept its mission of enhancing the lives of the citizens who live and work in D.C. as pillar in its foundation. McKissack & McKissack is an outgrowth of the first McKissack firm whose origin began with Moses McKissack, a slave who learned the building trades. From the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the National Museum of African American History and Culture to the revitalization of the city’s public schools and infrastructure, McKissack & McKissack remains firmly committed to preserving the history and advancing the future of Washington, D.C.

“The DC Chamber of Commerce is honored to present the Business of the Year award to McKissack & McKissack for their outstanding accomplishments in the nation’s capital,” said Vincent Orange, President and CEO, “The historical roots of the McKissack family is exhibited well through projects such as McKinley Technology High School, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the National African American Museum of History and Culture.”

The Chamber also honored Sheila C. Johnson with the Lifetime Legacy Award, Ted Leonsis with the Business Leader of the Year Award, PN Hoffman with the Economic Impact Award and Compass Coffee with the Community Impact Award.
